2022 ITTF-Oceania Senior & Youth Championships are back!

ITTF-Oceania is excited to announce that the 2022 ITTF-Oceania Senior and Youth Championships are returning, after being affected – and ultimately cancelled – due to the flow-on effects of COVID-19 over the last two years.

The 2022 ITTF-Oceania Senior and Youth Championships will be held at Croydon & Districts Table Tennis association, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia from September 5 to 8, and is the most prestigious event on the organisation’s calendar.

Both events will now be held annually and the event will be broadcast throughout the Oceania region. This year, spectators will have the opportunity to see the best players throughout Oceania fighting for the titles on offer.

“It is great news that our most prestigious event will be returning again in 2022 and I am excited to be involved in organising major events again.” – Ryan Wiegand, ITTF-Oceania Events Manager.

“After 2 challenging years without events, I am proud to confirm the Oceania Senior and Youth Championships will be held in Melbourne, Australia.  I’m really looking forward to watching the best Oceania players competing together once again.” – Barry Griffiths, ITTF-Oceania CEO.

“It is wonderful news that Croydon & Districts will be hosting the 2022 Oceania Senior and Youth Championships in September. We have had a proud history of hosting many major events over the years, including several National Championships and Olympic Qualifiers. However it is almost 30 years since we held this event, and we remember it well as we had just moved into our bigger hall and were able to see the likes of Makaling, Jackson and Griffiths play.

The Croydon & Districts Committee look forward to seeing many players from all over the Oceania region come and compete in possibly the first table tennis event where tnternational travel is permitted for all since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.” – Greg Bristowe, Board Member of Croydon & Districts Table Tennis Association.

The event prospectus was released last week.
