Recently appointed as the Rugby Australia Delegate to Oceania Rugby, Dr Jane Wilson AO, will join the Oceania Rugby Executive Committee (Board) filling the vacant Appointed General Member (Australia).
Dr Wilson joined the Rugby Australia Board in April 2021 and serves as a member of the Governance and Policy Committee.
Oceania Rugby President, Richard Sapias, welcomed the appointment this week.
“I’m delighted that Dr Wilson has joined the board and look forward to working closely with her over the coming years in driving rugby forward in Oceania as we continue building sustainable foundations for our region,” Sapias said.
“Her extensive experience in the finance, banking and medical industries combined with more than two decades as a non-executive director on a number of government and non-for-profit organisations will be greatly valued as Oceania Rugby continues to strive for strong good governance throughout the region and working collaboratively with our Members”, Sapias added.
Dr Wilson brings a range of hugely valuable skills and experience to Oceania Rugby as the Co-Chair of the Australian Government Advisory Board on Technology and Healthcare Competitiveness, a former Guardian of the Future Fund, Australia’s Sovereign Wealth Fund, a Non-Executive Director of Sonic Healthcare Limited, Transurban and Costa Group Holdings Limited.
Dr Wilson was previously the Deputy Chancellor of the University of Queensland, and a Non-Executive Director of the General Sir John Monash Foundation, Opal Aged Care Limited, BUPA Australia Limited, Energex Limited and The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust.
With a lifelong passion for rugby, Dr Wilson has been extensively involved in Rugby Queensland both personally and through her family before joining Rugby Australia and Oceania Rugby.
“I am thrilled to have been appointed as the Rugby Australia Delegate to Oceania Rugby. Rugby is very well positioned in this region and with RWC2021 (to be played in 2022) and RWC2027 and RWC2029 on the horizon in Oceania the future is very exciting.
“I look forward to working with both the Executive Committee and Member Unions to build on the current successes around the region,” Dr Wilson said.
Dr Wilson’s appointment brings the Oceania Rugby Executive Committee to eight members.
