Scott Houston, a seasoned executive with extensive experience in table tennis, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Table Tennis Federation – Oceania (ITTF-Oceania).
Houston, who holds MBA and GAICD qualifications and is a former Australian National Team member, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this position, having previously served as the CEO of Table Tennis Australia for nearly six years. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in the growth and development of the sport in Australia.
Additionally, he has been an elected member of the ITTF Council since 2021, and an elected member of ITTF-Oceania’s Management Committee since 2018, further solidifying his commitment to the advancement of table tennis globally.
With his strong leadership skills, strategic vision, and deep understanding of the sport, Houston is well-equipped to drive ITTF-Oceania’s mission of promoting and fostering the growth of table tennis in the continent.
President of ITTF-Oceania Anthony Moore commented, “Scott’s appointment will bring fresh perspectives and innovative approaches to the organization, positioning it for continued success in the years to come. The Oceania region has our collective sights set on Brisbane 2032 as a ‘Home Games’ and we look forward to Scott’s leadership and experience as we work together with our Member Associations to take advantage of his golden opportunity.”
Commenting on his appointment, Houston remarked, “I have a deep connection to and a great passion for the Oceania region. As a player, winning the Oceania Championships (Men’s Doubles) was my greatest achievement. Once I stopped playing full-time, I served as Oceania Development Officer where I forged bonds across the region that still stand today. Most recently, I have served on the ITTF-Oceania Management Committee and as an Oceania representative on the ITTF Council. There is much work to be done as CEO and I can’t wait to get started.”
Houston has relinquished his elected positions to take up the role of CEO and will commence on 24 June 2024.
