Oceania Fencing Confederation update

During November and December of 2020, fencing in Oceania returned to some level of activity. This varied quite a lot from country to country, with many members still in lockdown or with borders closed.

The Oceania Fencing Confederation (OFC) continues to hold regular Zoom meetings to maintain communication and planning for future development.  This will include a series of webinars teaching the fundamentals of refereeing and coaching during the first half of 2021. Interest in these sessions is high, with more than fifty expressions of interest received from New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Guam, Fiji and Australia.

During December four participants from Oceania Fencing completed the Hope Leaders Course organised and hosted by OSFO. The attendees will now be able to bring this valuable skillset to their clubs, associations and federations.

In December 2020, administrators from the member countries of the Oceania Fencing Confederation attended webinars organised by the International Fencing Federation (FIE). The purpose was to educate all OFC Federations about the administrative duties, rights and responsibilities of their membership.
