Pacific Oceania Competes at 2025 Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group II

The Pacific Oceania Women’s Team represented the region at the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Zone Group II, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 17–22 June 2025. The team was led by Captain Cyril Jacobe and Vice-Captain Abigail Tere Apisah, and included four players: Violet Apisah (Papua New Guinea), Patricia Apisah (Papua New Guinea), Carolann Delaunay (New Caledonia), and Litia Godinet (American Samoa). Ten teams were split into two pools of five. Pacific Oceania was placed in Group B, alongside Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Iran, and the Philippines.

Match Results:

  • Pacific Oceania vs Iran – Win 2–1
    Violet Apisah secured a win at #2 singles. Carolann Delaunay, carrying an injury, was defeated at #1. The deciding doubles match was won by the Apisah sisters.
  • Pacific Oceania vs Indonesia – Loss 1–2
    Violet again won her singles match. Carolann was defeated in straight sets. In doubles, the team won the first set but lost narrowly in a match tiebreak.
  • Pacific Oceania vs Uzbekistan – Win 2–1
    Violet claimed another singles win. Carolann lost her match, but the Apisah sisters secured the tie with a close three-set win in doubles, 11–9 in the super tiebreak.
  • Pacific Oceania vs Philippines – Loss 1–2
    Violet recorded a dominant singles win. Carolann played her best match of the week, narrowly losing in three sets. The doubles match was decided in a tight super tiebreak, which went in favour of the Philippines.

Following the pool stage, Pacific Oceania competed in a classification match against Kyrgyzstan:

  • Pacific Oceania vs Kyrgyzstan – Loss 1–2
    Litia Godinet lost at #2 singles. Carolann won the first set but was defeated in three sets. Patricia Apisah and Litia won the doubles match in straight sets.

Pacific Oceania concluded the event in 6th place overall, finishing with two team wins and three losses. Throughout the competition, Violet Apisah remained unbeaten in singles, contributing crucial points in every tie.

The 2025 Billie Jean King Cup provided another valuable opportunity for Pacific Oceania’s top female athletes to compete against strong regional opponents and gain experience at the international level.
