Tokyo-bound Australian race-walking champion Montag wins spot in the IOC Young Leaders Programme

ONOC Athletes’ Commission has congratulated Jemima Montag on her selection into the IOC Young Leaders Programme.

“The ONOC Athletes’ Commission congratulates Australian Olympic Team‘s Jemima Montag on her selection into the IOC Young Leaders Programme and we wish her well in her leadership journey,” Ms Karo Lelai, Chair of ONOC Athletes’ Commission Chair said.

Lelai said that strong and decisive leadership that unifies the globe and proactively addresses climate change, is needed more than ever at all levels of society.

Montag is an Australian champion race walker who holds the current national record for the 20km distance.

IOC Young Leaders programme empowers young people to leverage the power of sport to make a positive difference in their communities.

The IOC Young Leaders Programme has 25 candidates selected from 3000 applicants, all with a background in or a clear passion for sport, and Jemima represents Oceania in the list.
