30 Oceania Athletes and Administrators Participate in Multi-Day Wellbeing and Inclusion Workshop Prior to #OAC24

Oceania Athletics Association, Total Teams, and Sport Inclusion Australia Wellbeing and Sport Inclusion Workshops

Prior to the Oceania Athletics Championships, 30 participants gathered at FASANOC for the Wellbeing and Inclusion Workshop a collaboration between Oceania Athletics Association, Total Teams, and Sport Inclusion Australia.

The participants came from across Oceania from 25 of the Oceania Athletics Association Member Federations, and the Fiji National University, Oceania Sports Education Program, and FASASNOC Athlete Commission.

The multi day workshops focused on:

  • Wellbeing and Sport Inclusion Wellbeing – to explore together how athletes can thrive more consistently – individually and collectively – in achieving both peak performance and optimal wellbeing in training, competition and daily life.
  • Sport Inclusion – the Program consisted of professional development and capacity building workshops targeted at coaches, technical officials, sport administrators, and community organisations supporting people living with a disability.

The program helped grow participation and gender equity; build the awareness and engagement with the community to see and experience the benefits of sport personally, professionally, and socially; and create competition pathways for eligible athletes living with a disability.

We thank our collaborators Total Teams and Sport Inclusions Australia for their guidance and expertise with the participants.
