FIFA and Team Up offer unprecedented safeguarding support

A team of Pacific Island safeguarding specialists and observers have been busy providing assistance across four major cities in Australia in support of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, in an initiative jointly coordinated between FIFA and the Australian Government’s sport for development program, Team Up.

Among the Pacific participants is Palu Uhatahi-Tu’amoheloa from the Tonga Football Association. Palu recently became the first Pacific Island-based graduate of the FIFA Guardians Safeguarding in Sport Diploma, which aims to further develop and professionalise the role of safeguarding officers within football.
