The Federation of International Touch (FIT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Milne, the FIT Tournament Events Manager for the 17th Pacific Games, to be held in Honiara, Solomon Islands in November 2023.
Ian has an extensive background in the game of Touch with over 20 years’ experience from refereeing to organising events on a national and international level.
Ian Milne said of his appointment; “I have been fortunate enough to have been involved in previous Pacific Games and Mini Games held in Samoa and Rarotonga.”
“Planning for these Games is well underway ensuring that we deliver the best possible event experience for athletes to compete and for supporters to enjoy this event, and I look forward to meeting everyone again and renewing friendships made at previous Games.”
FIT will continue to offer development support programmes to grow and develop the game of Touch in schools and for youth, plus training programmes on mentoring, refereeing and coaching frameworks.
FIT Member Relations Commission, Rhonda Togipau, said; “We are aware of the various challenges that our Touch aiga has overcome as they continue their good mahi in the wairua of the game, and we appreciate their commitment and contribution in preparation for the 2023 Pacific Games, as well as the International Youth Event being hosted by Touch Football Australia early next year.”
