OSFO Sec Gen attends Oceania Youth and Sports Festival

ONOC’s Barry Maister and Brian Minikin and OSFO’s Chet Gray presented at the first Pacific Youth Conference in Manukau, New Zealand. The presentation highlighted the partnership that exists between ONOC, OSFO, the PGC and the ASC and challenged the Sport Minister’s to become a part of the alliance to assist with the building of capacity within National Federations.

The Australian Sports Commission’s Marty Roberts and Oceania Football’s Tai Nicholas invited ONOC and OSFO to take part in the forum with the ministers to ensure they were aware of the existing partnerships that existed in the region and what they had and were hoping to achieve in the future.  The presentation gave an overview of both organisations, their jurisdiction and what they hoped to achieve as a collective voice in the region.

This week the 2010 annual assembly will kick off in Nadi and we expect a record attendance of National Olympic Committees, Regional Federations, bidding cities and IOC staff.  Guest speaker will be the ex-ICC CEO Malcolm Speed who will present on good leadership and participate in the IOC’s governance forum.
