Oceania Fencing Confederation update

It seems that things are almost back to normal cross the Oceania sporting landscape, with the Oceania Fencing Confederation (OFC) conducting the 2022 Oceania Senior Championships in conjunction with the New Zealand Senior and Veteran Championships in Auckland, from October 22 to 24.  This was a great success with fencers from Tahiti, New Zealand and Australia competing and an International Refereeing Course being held in the lead up. The course was presented by the President of the FIE Refereeing Commission, Ms Irina Knysch. It was an opportunity for Oceania participants to gain a deeper understanding of the competition rules and the finer points of their application at the international level.

The next upcoming OFC event will be the Oceania Veteran Championships, which will be held in Adelaide, from November 25 to 29.

From August to October, the OFC also continued its online Level 1 Coaching Course with face-to-face assessments for candidates in Adelaide, Brisbane and Melbourne in Australia, and Hawkes Bay, Christchurch and Dunedin in New Zealand. Final assessments will be conducted with Fiji and Papua New Guinea candidates in early 2023.
