Player Development Camp complete

From October 20 to 26, Tier 3 Badminton players and coaches from Tonga, Samoa and the Cook Islands congregated in Auckland to take part in the second Pacific Junior Development Camp of the year. You can see their sessions, workshops and stories on our Facebook and website.

The Player Development Camp is a great platform for the junior athletes to improve in preparation for events such as next year’s VICTOR Oceania Championships. In 2019, nine countries entered the Championships – the largest number to date – with ambitions to keep growing the event.

The region’s top Junior and Open players will be competing in the prestigious regional championships – the VICTOR Oceania Championships – from February 10 to 16, 2020 at the Ken Kay Badminton Stadium in Ballarat (Victoria, Australia). The Junior event consists of the individual championships, whereas the Open event consists of individual, Men’s Team and Women’s Team Championships.

The winning team from this event will qualify for the Thomas and Uber Cup 2020, to be held in Denmark from May 16 to 24 May 2020. This event is essentially the World Championships of Men’s and Women’s Teams competition.
