Vanuatu Cricket Advances to Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers

Vanuatu Cricket successfully hosted the Cricket East Asia-Pacific Qualifying Tournament at the start of September, advancing to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifiers for the first time!

Vanuatu held their nerve with a 21-run win over Japan to finish unbeaten at the tournament, claiming the region’s solitary spot  to join Ireland, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and United Arab Emirates as the five teams locked in for the Qualifier to be held early next year. One Qualifier through the Americas tournament and two via the Europe and Africa tournaments will also participate.

Selina Solman’s side closed out tournament victory thanks largely with the ball, defending 107 and ending two points clear of Papua New Guinea, the side they turned over to send the tournament into a spin on day one.

Congratulations to all on an excellent display of women’s cricket in the Oceania region.
